Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how the Aaron Shaw Psychology website uses cookies and similar technologies.

Aaron Shaw Psychology is an independent private psychology practice operated by me, Dr Aaron Shaw, Clinical Psychologist.

My website is hosted and operated using Wix and uses Usercentrics Consent Management to manage visitors' cookie preferences.

This Cookie Policy should be read alongside my Privacy Notice, which explains more broadly how personal information is handled through Aaron Shaw Psychology.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of information that websites can store on your computer, smartphone, tablet or other device when you visit a website.

They can be used for purposes such as:

  • enabling a website to function correctly;

  • maintaining security;

  • remembering settings or preferences;

  • understanding how visitors use a website;

  • measuring website performance;

  • supporting advertising or marketing functions.

Similar technologies can also be used to store or access information on a device.

References to “cookies” in this policy include these technologies where appropriate.

How this website manages cookies

This website uses a cookie-consent system provided by Usercentrics through Wix.

When you first visit the website, you are given the opportunity to:

  • accept non-essential technologies; or

  • deny them.

You can use the website if you choose to deny non-essential cookies.

Where consent is required, non-essential technologies should not be activated unless you choose to accept them.

You can subsequently change or withdraw your cookie preferences using the cookie/privacy controls provided on the website.

Essential cookies

Some cookies and technologies are necessary for the website to function properly.

These may be used for purposes such as:

  • website security;

  • fraud prevention;

  • maintaining network and website stability;

  • remembering privacy or cookie choices;

  • providing functions that you have specifically requested.

Because these technologies are necessary for the website to operate, they may be used without asking for consent.

They are not used by me to create advertising profiles about people seeking psychological services.

Analytics

Wix provides website analytics that can help me understand general information about how the website is being used, such as:

  • the number of visits to the website;

  • which pages are viewed;

  • how visitors reach the website;

  • general website performance.

Where analytics technologies require consent, they will only be used in accordance with the cookie choices you make through the Usercentrics consent system.

I use website analytics to understand and improve the performance and accessibility of the Aaron Shaw Psychology website rather than to make clinical decisions about individual visitors.

Advertising and marketing technologies

At the date of this policy, the Aaron Shaw Psychology website is not directly connected through Wix to Google Tag, Meta Pixel/CAPI, Google Tag Manager, TikTok Pixel or Yandex.Metrica.

This means that I am not currently using these integrations to create website-based advertising audiences or track individual visitors across the website for advertising purposes.

I may advertise Aaron Shaw Psychology through platforms such as Google, Facebook or Instagram, but running an advertisement on those platforms does not necessarily mean that those platforms are permitted to track your activity on this website.

If I introduce additional advertising or conversion-measurement technology in the future, I will review the privacy implications, update this policy where necessary and ensure that appropriate cookie-consent controls are in place.

Sensitive health information and advertising

Aaron Shaw Psychology provides psychological services, and I recognise that the pages someone chooses to view may potentially reveal information about their interests or concerns relating to psychological or physical health.

For this reason, I take a cautious approach to the use of advertising and tracking technologies.

I do not intentionally use website tracking technology to build advertising profiles based upon individual visitors' mental-health difficulties, diagnoses, therapy interests or other sensitive health information.

Information entered into a clinical enquiry form is not intentionally used by me to create personalised advertising audiences.

Website enquiry forms

The website contains forms that allow you to make an enquiry about Aaron Shaw Psychology services.

Cookies and website tracking are separate from the information you deliberately enter into an enquiry form.

Information submitted through an enquiry form is handled in accordance with my Privacy Notice.

You are encouraged to provide only a brief outline of what you are looking for through the initial enquiry form and not to include detailed or highly sensitive clinical information unless necessary.

Third-party websites and links

The Aaron Shaw Psychology website may contain links to other organisations or websites, for example professional directories, regulatory organisations, NHS services or social-media platforms.

Clicking a link that takes you away from Aaron Shaw Psychology may result in the destination website using its own cookies or tracking technologies.

I do not control the cookies used by external websites.

You should refer to the relevant organisation's own privacy and cookie information if you want to understand how it handles information.

Embedded third-party content

Some websites use embedded content such as videos, maps, social-media components or other third-party services.

Where such content is used on Aaron Shaw Psychology, it may be capable of using cookies or similar technologies.

Where Wix and Usercentrics are able to control such technologies, non-essential components requiring consent should be prevented from loading until the appropriate consent has been given.

I periodically review the website to identify new third-party technologies and will update the cookie arrangements where necessary.

Changing your cookie preferences

You can change your cookie choices using the privacy/cookie control provided on the Aaron Shaw Psychology website.

You can also control cookies through your browser.

Most browsers allow you to:

  • view stored cookies;

  • delete cookies;

  • block some or all cookies;

  • prevent third-party cookies;

  • change privacy settings.

Blocking essential technologies may affect how some websites function, although declining the non-essential cookies currently offered through the Aaron Shaw Psychology website should not prevent you from browsing the website normally.

How long cookies are stored

Different cookies can remain on a device for different periods.

Some are deleted when you close your browser, while others may remain for longer so that a website can remember your preferences.

The current details of cookies and technologies identified by the website's consent-management system can be accessed through the Usercentrics privacy/cookie controls on the website.

I periodically review the technologies used by the website and do not intend to retain tracking information for longer than is reasonably necessary for its purpose.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

I will review this Cookie Policy periodically and may update it if:

  • Wix changes the technologies used to operate the website;

  • I introduce or remove analytics tools;

  • I introduce advertising or conversion-measurement technologies;

  • third-party website components change;

  • relevant legislation or regulatory guidance changes.

The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last reviewed.
